There is always a way to find me...

Good Evening peeps!

So after doing some work with the store, I realized that there are quite a few ways to get your hands on a Some Kind of Pretty original.  So I would like the highlight just a few ways.  Of course, there is the traditional way and that is through my Etsy store!  But if you do not want to use Etsy (because like Pinterest, you can easily spend all day on there!) I have a store through Facebook!!!  Yes indeed I do.  This store actually offers a coupon code for purchasing through Facebook.  This store front can be found on my facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Some-Kind-of-Pretty/  There is a tab that says My Etsy Shop.  Just click there and you are in business!!!

Some of you may know about might be lucky enough to run into my items in a store called The Fashion Flip in Yukon, OK.  My sister and I decided to get a booth at this cute little boutique a few months ago and have loved it ever since!!  I love that people can go in there everyday and see my items!  So if you are in the area, you should swing by, check it out, and let me know what you think!!

Another facet that I love to use to sell jewelry is craft shows.  I have become a craft show junkie!!!  Thank God that my husband is actually very enthusiastic to go with me.  He is quite the salesperson and sometimes can sell more than me!!  This Fall I will be all over middle GA attending about 1-2 craft shows a month.  I will be using all of July to prep for this marathon of shows.  If you are local, I hope to see you out there!

Finally, just message me!  If you are thinking of something in particular that you would like, just let me know. I love doing custom orders, especially for weddings!!

Now that you know all the ways to get a piece of something pretty...or Some Kind of Pretty...(hehehe...I couldn't help myself).  I would like to show just a couple of my new rings!!  The resin rings will be starting at $5

Blue, Blogs, and Curtains?

Yep!  That pretty much sums up my weekend!  Blue, Blogs and Curtains!  Odd combo I know.  Sorry I have posted in a couple of days, it has just been crazy at the SKoP headquarters.  I wish I could say it all has been for the store, but alas, its not.  The hubby and I have been getting our house together and another family members house.  I spent all Sunday (I use 'all' loosely because I did take frequent breaks and not even start till noon) sewing a valance for their new house.  I don't pride myself on a being a great seamstress, but I can sew a straight-ish line.  Anyway, I spent the day with just me and my sewing machine..and iron..and ironing board..and rotary cutter..and rotary mat....well you get the point.  I promise to post pics soon!!  It actually came out really cute!

So that's one part of my weekend!  Another is that I decided to reach out to a few blogs for a feature/giveaway!  Right now I am being featured in a blog by a talented young woman.  Check out her blog and find out about the giveaway at: http://definitelyscreaming.blogspot.com/2013/06/some-kind-of-pretty-giveaway.html

I have a few more partnerships in the works, so I will let you know!

Tonight I was supposed to take pictures of all my new work this week, but the couch looked so comfy and I couldn't resist!  So I will take pictures tomorrow!  But I did post a few new listings over the weekend...hence the blue part!  I noticed myself being attract to and working with a lot of blue lately.  Which  can be seen if you look at some of the new listings.

https://www.etsy.com/listing/154769401/blue-jasper-and-metal-flower-necklace?ref=shop_home_active
$13
Blue Jasper with a blue enamel rose
I love this!  The blue jasper has such beautiful hues!  There are also matching earrings!!

$7
I love these blue bird earrings!  Blue enameled birds with white Czech fire polished glass.

$15
LOVE navy right now.  Just last week I bought a navy dress, shirt and shoes!!  It  might become a obsession!  Which might be why I love this necklace so much.  Its made of navy ceramic beads.  The necklace beautiful and bold in navy!

So I guess I should work on expanding my color palette this week...I hope you all have a great evening!!  I promise to work on getting these post up earlier in the day!

One Month Already!!!

My hubby and I have survived one month of marriage!!  We both are still living and, even better, still happy. So after this small achievement, it got me thinking about wedding gifts!!  You think after writing all the thank you cards for two showers and a wedding that I would be through with gifts...but I'm not.  I love giving gifts! I think I spent more time planning the gifts for the people involved with my wedding than I should have.  But I  look forward to gift giving!  Weddings are all about life and love.  So I would like to show some of what I think would be a great way to show that off.

$8
I love these because what embodies love more than a heart!!  These are so cute and perfect for that pop of color with a more neutral bridesmaid dress.  Or you can do like I did and I used this same color that also happened to match the bridesmaid's dresses!  They were perfect in pink!!  Of course, I do not have their jewelry up for sale, but these are very similar.

$18
To some this maybe an odd wedding choice.  But say you have that person who helped you with set and clean up, or with another major part of your wedding day, this piece is very unique and stand out.  This necklace will add confidence to her outfit.  Just because she might have done a lot of the behind the scenes work, doesn't mean she should be a wallflower!

Hostess with the Mostest!

Hey Peeps!!

This week the hubby and I have hosted several get-togethers!  We can be quiet the social butterflies...when we want to be.  This got me thinking about what would be great looks for that socialite hostess.  This week, unfortunately, I was a bit thrown together.  However, I still managed to accessorize!

So I would like to point out some cute looks for the Summer Hostess.

https://www.etsy.com/listing/109663518/copper-birds-nest-necklace?ref=shop_home_active
$12
This necklace is great for the casual, outdoors event.  This necklace can be made in silver, copper, and gold.  Also, the color of eggs can be changed up too!  This piece can be a great conversation starter.  Each egg can represent a kid, or even a pet!

https://www.etsy.com/listing/154078960/coral-bamboo-necklace?ref=shop_home_active
$13
So your event is a little more artistic?  Then try this bold bamboo necklace.  This necklace definitely makes a statement and is one of a kind.  It is also a very powerful and confident red!  I would love to see this worn when hosting a gallery opening or just a cool party at a loft.
On the flip side, this can also go very beachy.  Because the bamboo can mimic driftwood.  Have this necklace accent a simple swim suit and you are set for any beach cook out.

$15
Not hosting anything big or crazy?  Just a quiet night at your house and a yummy dinner?  Then don't go over board, but don't be boring.  I love this necklace paired with a simple blouse or a cute cardi-cami combo.  I love this for the simple colors but interesting shapes.  This necklace is made from river shell.  The beads are so smooth and have a great vibrant color.  This necklace also has matching earrings!!

I hope you enjoyed my hostess selections!!  Are you hosting an upcoming event, if so, let me know how it goes!

Later!

Green with Envy

The other day, my husband and I were at Lowe's.  Its like the newlywed Mecca.  While pondering over a paint color for some picture frames that I picked up at a yard sale, I saw a display for Emerald, Pantone's color of the year.  This reminded me that Emerald is a very hot color this year!!  Jewelry is a great way to show off in green without spending a lot of green!  So I decided to show some of my green pieces.

These little bows are perfect touch of green. $6

These jasper and tiger's eye are an earthy take on a very luxe color. $5

I hope you enjoy this rich color.  It can be worn in several ways.  I know I am loving this color of the year!
P.S.--We went with Navy for the picture frames.

Where the Magic Happens

Good Evening peeps!

So today I thought I would show you where all the magic happens!  Yes...my desk!  My workspace has changed a lot over the years.  I think I know have it the way I like.  My desk is actually a kitchen table from my husband's grandparents.  They used it when they first got married.  So now I  use, but make sure to not damage it.  The rest of the items on my desk are a hodge-podge of old glass pieces and jewelry supplies.  I find myself more inspired with the more color I surround myself.  I am not saying that I am going to turn my quaint little corner into a rainbow, but I do like to add color to stimulate the creative process.  My work space is kinda like a mini vacation.  I know once I sit down at my desk, that I can spread everything and let the ideas flow.  They usually come pretty quick.  So I find myself about an hour later with at least a couple sets of jewelry made and about two laid out to finish making.  I have lots of necklaces on the docket to make, but unfortunately things like cooking, laundry, and life are preventing me from finishing all of them!  I guess I will just finish them slowly.  lol.

The pink book is my Inspiration Book.  I keep all my ideas, pictures from magazines, tutorials and blog ideas!

I did post a new earring/necklace set today...

Hope you had a good day!!

Good Deals and Great Deals

Good Evening peeps!!

This past weekend I spent most of it cleaning house and going through some old clothes.  I kinda had to make room for my husband's clothes...he wanted room in the closet, can you believe that!  This reminded me that I need to 'clean house' in my store.  Thus, brings me to today!!  After looking at my store, I realized that I had quite a few good pieces in my clearance section.  So I decided that I would highlight the Clearance section of my store.

While some stores use the clearance rack as a cast away island for all the misfit toys, I want to embrace and show it off.  Yes, I have a couple of pieces that haven't found a good home yet, but I am sure they will!  These pieces are made with the same quality materials and love as the rest of my listings, so why not be proud!! Think of these listings as awesome good deals, and not as some cast aways on some clearance rack in a dark corner.

I absolutely love this piece!!  It is a long necklace with a painted shell pendant.  I am in love with pink, green and chevron!!  It is such a great piece for the summer!!  This beauty is a steal priced at $8.
https://www.etsy.com/listing/109665134/pink-and-green-chevron-necklace?ref=shop_home_active

This bold necklace is made of river shell rings.  It is about 18" long.  I love this because it has the presence of a bold statement necklace, but it can also be subdued because of the creamy-white color.  This is also priced to sell at $7.
https://www.etsy.com/listing/94643263/circle-shell-necklace?ref=shop_home_active

Looking for a more natural look?  These are green river shell and wooden squares.  These are great for a node to nature while still being modern.  They hang almost 2" in length and can be yours for $4.

I hope you check out the clearance section!!  Just because its marked down in price, does not mean its marked down in quality.  :-)

P.O.C.

Pop of Color!!  Everyone needs a little pop of color in their wardrobe!  I love using bits of color to brighten up an look.  Even if you have had the outfit for a while, it will look fresh and new with the right pop of color.

Pops of color don't necessarily have to bright or neon.  They can be softer colors.  But I am a big fan of color, so I tend to lean towards bright colors.  I would like to feature some of my bright pieces that will definitely make a statement and freshen up any wardrobe!

These are great for adding a little twist to your wardrobe.  I know that because I work in an office and I use my jewelry to add personality to my professional wardrobe.  Having a touch of red and arrows will make any corporate wardrobe instantly unique!

So these will obviously speak for themselves.  They are so fun and spunky!!  There is also a matching necklace available.

Just not to tire you out on red, I have this adorable blue plaid necklace.  This will add a cute/country/preppy look to any outfit from a plain tee to an adorable blouse.

I hope you embrace a little P.O.C. in your wardrobe!

A Love Story for Life...The Beginning.

Hey Peeps!!

I hope you all have poked around my store a bit.  If so, you might have stumbled upon my About page.  Here I give a brief history of the store.  I thought I would share it with as a new beginning to the blog.  I hope you enjoy it!

A love story for life.

In 2011 I decided to open my store and start officially selling my jewelry. I was a junior in college and heard of a art and crafts show happening at the park around the corner from my house. I gathered up the confidence and opened my doors the same day as the craft show. Ever since then it has been such a wonderful experience.

Making jewelry has always and will be my first love. I started making jewelry as a child. My oldest sister gave me a kit to bead my own bobby pins and thus a love affair was born. That summer I sold the bobby pins at a flea market put on by her church. I made a killing! Well, for a child that is. I later realized that they probably bought them from me because I was a child. hehe.

I taught myself the skills needed to make jewelry. Well, I guess that's not completely true, I did read alot on the Internet. I always find myself examining jewelry in stores or online and trying to figure out how it is made. Part of the excitement is figuring out how to put a piece together.

Throughout my life I have always turned to making jewelry as my outlet. If I am feeling sad, stressed, or confused, I find solace in making jewelry. Because of this, I have a strong connection to jewelry. Making jewelry keeps me sane! Or at least that's what I tell people. lol I can't go for long with out sketching and wanting to play with beads!! Which by the way, I have tons and still continue to buy more almost weekly.

I hope that you love the jewelry as much as I do. I will always be making jewelry, whether its for me or for you. Which is why that this is a love story for life. :-)

I'm Back!!

So I totally forgot that I started this blog shortly after I started the store!  At the time I was busy with school and work to keep up with it.  But now...I am still just as busy!  lol  But now I want to continue with it.

Since starting the blog I have grown my business so it can support itself!  Yay!  Thanks to all of you SKoP is growing!  I also go married!  Though the day seem to go by so quickly, I do remember that I have never felt any happier.  :-)  I was actually proud of myself that I didn't become a "Bridezilla" until the hour before my wedding.  I blame the nerves.  But overall, we had a fun and memorable wedding.  My husband even had no problems with me using all the pink I wanted too!!!  So, I ran with it.  My talented sisters help create my dream reception.  Gorgeous Spring flowers, pink glitz, an adorable pink and green cake, and all with a vintage touch.  All my family chipped in and made it one for the books.  Love you all!

So in this blog I want to talk jewelry of course, DIY projects, newlywed life, and what inspires me!

This season I have been inspired by the colors navy, coral, and mint!  They are son on trend this season and I just love the color combo.  They can become boho, preppy, or vintage.  I choose vintage.  :-)  So I tried my hand at using navy.  I have never really used a lot of navy in the past.  I tend to stick to black and brown for my neutrals.  But this season, I am going navy!

I love these!!  I even made a matching necklace (which has not been added to the store yet).

As for the coral, I added these to the store (and to my jewelry box!)

So I hope you enjoy my jewelry and follow me on this journey called life.  :-)
